The Pere Marquette (http://www.hotelperemarqu...) is Peoria's most famous hotel, independently operated, located right in the middle of the downtown and serving as Peoria's premier hotel since 1927. Quality had fallen off in recent years, but the hotel has undergone a massive renovation in the last two years. It is on the National Register of Historic Places and is the closest hotel to the Civic Center. Pets welcome.
Mark Twain
The Mark Twain (http://www.marktwainhotel.com/) is another independent, located on the periphery of the downtown near the expressway. It is a smaller, "hipper" hotel than the Pere Marquette. Pets are welcome.
